About this artwork
While Faces 2 focused on one emotional presence—a single, searching gaze—Faces 1 was created as its opposite: a crowd of emotions, layered and fragmented. I wanted to explore what happens when identity becomes shared, overlapping, or blurred.
This piece is about collective feeling. The faces aren’t fully formed; they interrupt and dissolve into one another. Some emerge clearly, others vanish into the structure. It’s a composition built through conflict—between… colors, shapes, and expressions.
Where Faces 2 invites stillness and introspection, Faces 1 asks the viewer to move, to search. It doesn’t offer one emotional center but many—shifting depending on where you look and how long you stay.
The process was more chaotic, more intuitive. I let the painting grow face by face, fragment by fragment. It mirrors how we often experience people: not as complete portraits, but as impressions, glances, gestures.
Faces 1 is about noise, complexity, and the feeling of being one among many.
