About this artwork
This is the third work that shows this old railway bridge in the middle of the city. The painter worked intensively on the lights, reflections, shadows and random lighting effects of this scene. The graffiti that is typical of this area is an important part of the picture. The nocturnal scene with a lonely passerby is about an urban lifestyle and the love for the scruffy, chaotic, beautiful look of the city.
The bridge itself is currently the subject… of discussion in the city because it is to be demolished and replaced with a modern, smooth, large model. You can also see a photo of the half-finished picture here.

« The process of color-sensitive, soft, slow painting contrasts with the speed and indifference of everyday life. I take part of my surroundings and make art out of it. »
The perception of Ulla Kutter's environment is shaped by the focus on disharmonious compositions and their aesthetics. The German painter portrays the broken, chaotic, and shining aspects of everyday life in the city. Through her images, she creates possibilities for different levels of perception. Kutter paints using the traditional techniques of old Dutch masters, using oils on canvas.
