About this artwork
In this painting I wanted to embellish the fable of Paradise into a light-hearted mockery, where the original couple, with gossip-like laughter and exposed flesh, twists the notion of original sin. I replace the innocence of the leaves with a complicit embrace, and the snake—now converted into a helpful lizard—curls up between their hands as a faithful confidant of this satire. The rose, with its perfume of temptation, embellishes the shamelessness…
of their smiles, while the foliage in the background is transformed into an Eden that celebrates the irreverence of the flesh. Thus, with paintbrush in hand, I turn Adam and Eve into a dance of complicity and laughter, because the apple, in this version, is nothing more than the promise of a joy that cancels out all shame.
