This is a painting of the famous and colorful Cuban percussionist Carlos ''Patato'' Valdes. This great percussionist came to America in 1954 leaving La Havana to come the New York City. He toured with his fellow Cuban congerio Candido Camero .He joined several ensembles included those led by Willie Bobo, Machito and Charlie Palmieri. Alan Reddick is a painter and sculptor who draws on a diverse self-taught background, shaped by observing masters like Seurat, Picasso, and Duchamp. He skillfully blends pointillism, cubism, and dynamic composition with his own distinctive motifs—floating musical instruments, geometric forms, and vivid hues of violet, orange, and indigo. His works radiate vibrancy and motion, passionately conveying the exuberance of music, the richness of nature, and the adventurous spirit of life. He is a graduate of Morehouse College with a degree in arts and communications . He has been in various galleries principally in the New York City area of both his sculptures and paintings .He has exhibited with such lauded artist as Romare Bearden Jacob Lawrance, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse , and Joan Miro.
