Two of the founding fathers of the BeBop. movement were Thelonious Monk and Dizzy Gillespie along with Charlie Parker Max Roach and Bud Powell. These were two giants of there instruments that enjoyed large popularity world wide Dizzy with such tunes as Salt Peanuts and Manteca and Monk with Round Midnight ,Brilliant Corners amounts others. This particular painting I believe came from a European tour that they did in the early seventies . I came…
across the photo and my head just let up. I knew I had to paint it. So I titled it 'Monk and Dizzy'.

Alan Reddick is a painter and sculptor who draws on a diverse self-taught background, shaped by observing masters like Seurat, Picasso, and Duchamp. He skillfully blends pointillism, cubism, and dynamic composition with his own distinctive motifs—floating musical instruments, geometric forms, and vivid hues of violet, orange, and indigo.
