This is one of the most polarizing figures in jazz. When you think of jazz this is one of the first people you think of. Miles Dewey Davis was born in Alton Illinois to an upper middle class family with his father being a prominent dentist. He picked ups trumpet in his early teens, left for New York to study at Juillard, but decided to drop out to play professionally as a member of the Charlie Parker Quintet .He is credited with starting cool jazz… in the early 1950's, he also durning this time period developed a heroin habit a habit he shortly afterwards quit. In 1955 he formed a quintet that. featured John Coltrane that was known as the first great quintet he had this group until 1961. In 1964 he formed his second great quintet that featured Wayne Shorter, and Herbie Hancock .In the late 1960s he started playing more fusion music that tended to pay him lot more money. He died in 1991 at the age of 65. I titled this painting Images of Miles.
