About this artwork
This is a painting of the great multi reed artist who excelled on alto saxophone flute and bass clarinet .Eric Dolphy. Born in Los Angles he played in his early years with Roy Porter , Gearld Wilson and Chico Hamilton who he came to New York with, where more possiblities for his type of playing existed. In New York he played with Charles Mingus Max Roach and was the added reed player in their John Coltrane quintet . Not having his music accepted…
the way he wanted it to be, he left the States on a tour with Charles Mingus to live in Europe unfortunately after being there for four months he died at the age of 36 .I made this painting in. tribute to him using various images and included a bass clarinet with his alto saxophone . I titled this images of Eric.

Alan Reddick is a painter and sculptor who draws on a diverse self-taught background, shaped by observing masters like Seurat, Picasso, and Duchamp. He skillfully blends pointillism, cubism, and dynamic composition with his own distinctive motifs—floating musical instruments, geometric forms, and vivid hues of violet, orange, and indigo. He is a graduate of Morehouse College with a degree in arts and communications . He has been in various galleries principally in the New York City area of both his sculptures and paintings .He has exhibited with such lauded artist as Romare Bearden Jacob Lawrance, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse , and Joan Miro.
