In this canvas, I portray the haughty reserve of a face that, when turning its head, offers a calculated gaze, half invitation and half disdain. I placed the figure on the far left, allowing its profile to be silhouetted against a mustard background marked by a horizontal line. This line acts as a subtle boundary between the flesh and the vegetation, where leaves emerge like a murmur of life. The contrast highlights the almost stony serenity of the… figure, whose wrinkles and shadows allude to unspoken secrets. Each stroke conceals a mockery of the cliché that the face is the faithful mirror of the soul, in a Quevedo-esque irony. I pose the paradox of a man who, while exhibiting himself, simultaneously hides himself, while his half-smile invites us to question hidden truths. Thus, "Hojcé Manué" stands as an enigmatic declaration of duality, a challenge to the certainty of the inner mirror.
Eusebio San Blanco explores art with oil and tempera techniques, and his teaching experience in anatomy reflects his mastery of figuration. His style is a fabric of figurative expressionism, nourished by traditional procedures and glazes that evoke deep emotions. His works are a vibrant dialogue between form and feeling, inviting introspective contemplation.
