About this artwork
In this work I wanted to convey a sense of precariousness and imbalance. My main stylistic device - the humanoid figure deprived of identity and will - is here shattered by an arrow that represents a global and mysterious threat, generating sensations of raw emotion and pure visual form. The use of acrylic and chalk allows me to play with texture and depth. Balancing between primitivism and minimalism, this piece invites the observer to reflect on…
the precariousness of their own destiny, expressing the tension and imbalance between progress and resistance.

Gastone Cecconello (Vercelli, 1942) has been working for over sixty years in painting, sculpture, and mixed media. His visual language—based on the figure of the hominid as a metaphor for the human condition—arises from the dialogue between matter and symbol, between the archaic and the contemporary.
He has exhibited in over one hundred solo shows in Italy and abroad: Columbia University in New York, Staatsuniversität Hamburg, the Italian Cultural Institute in Vienna, and Galerie Man Arte in Paris. Critic Pierre Restany has written about his work. His career is documented in the monograph Alle origini del mito (Silvana Editoriale, 2012).
At over eighty years old, he still works every day in his studio in Salussola, Biella.
