About this artwork
The tree was first debarked, stored in a dry place for years and then sanded down to the high-quality heartwood. Only then could the tree be sawn into individual pieces and then painstakingly put back together using threaded rods and stainless steel sleeves.
The sculpture “connected II” represents the connection between nature and humans and vice versa. Although… we are moving further and further away from nature, we still remain connected to it.
For transport, the three longer elements are unscrewed and can be easily screwed back on without tools.
The entire surface of the wood is finely sanded and left natural.
The stainless steel sleeves are brushed.
The base is a granite stone slab measuring 59 x 47.5 x 3 cm.
All sculptures by Manfred Hellweger are unique.

« I have always been fascinated by abstracting the human body in order to depict it in a simple and elegant form. »
He is particularly known for his minimalist approach, in which he reduces forms to their essential elements.
Hellweger's work embodies the idea that nothing is permanent; everything evolves and changes. Each of his sculptures reflects a deep engagement with the materials and themes he explores.
Despite their simplicity, his works are deeply expressive and, by reducing them to the essentials, offer a metaphor for mindfulness and contentment.
