About this artwork
The steel sculpture was mounted on a section of an old Hanza (hay man)
which were formerly used by farmers for haymaking.
However, due to the technical modernization of hay harvesting, these are rarely used these days and lead a shadowy existence. In this series, something… new is created from these relics.
The upper part of the sculpture was worked on with different tools and the surface was sealed with a matt clear varnish to prevent the steel from oxidizing.
All sculptures by Manfred Hellweger are unique.

« I have always been fascinated by abstracting the human body in order to depict it in a simple and elegant form. »
He is particularly known for his minimalist approach, in which he reduces forms to their essential elements.
Hellweger's work embodies the idea that nothing is permanent; everything evolves and changes. Each of his sculptures reflects a deep engagement with the materials and themes he explores.
Despite their simplicity, his works are deeply expressive and, by reducing them to the essentials, offer a metaphor for mindfulness and contentment.
