About this artwork
human nails X consists of many individual wire pins that have been connected to each other by targeted welding points, thus combining to form an abstracted, human figure.
Similar to the sculpture series “human flow”, Manfred Hellweger creates a whole from many individual parts.
Each nail represents a thought, an emotion, or a feeling in a person’s life.
The artist cast the base from fiber-reinforced and frost-resistant concrete,
which makes… this work ideal for outdoor use.
The specially made, brushed larch wood formwork transferred the lively wood grain into the concrete base.
Hellweger treated the steel sculpture with hydrochloric acid and exposed it to the weather for a month to obtain a uniform oxidation layer.
The color of the sculpture may change when placed outdoors.
All sculptures by Manfred Hellweger are unique.
