About this artwork
The work "human nails XII" consists of numerous individual wire nails, joined by precisely placed welds to form an abstract human figure. From the multitude of individual elements emerges a delicate yet powerful sculpture, whose open structure directs the viewer's gaze to the essential.
Each individual nail symbolically represents a thought, an emotion, or a feeling and becomes part of a larger whole. The characteristic reduction of form alludes… to mindfulness and contentment.
Thanks to its base made of fiber-reinforced, frost-resistant concrete, the sculpture is also ideally suited for outdoor use.
The surface was designed with a custom-made, brushed larch wood formwork, whose natural grain is visible in the concrete and forms an exciting contrast to the delicate metal structure.
