About this artwork
I built the surface of the painting in several steps: First, I applied thick layers of acrylic and incorporated leaves and branches. After sanding and sealing, I applied many fine layers of oil paint. This created structures reminiscent of natural processes—traces that remain even when painted over.
In "Steven," various shades of green overlap, from light accents to dark, almost stormy passages. These curved forms remind me of cloud shadows or… the movement of a weather front. The choice of a first name as the title is deliberate: Just as low-pressure areas are named, my works also bear human names. This connects abstraction with something very concrete.
For me, "Steven" is a quiet but powerful reflection on nature, change, and our own vulnerability.
