About this artwork
The intertwining of colors and graphite creates a dialogue that can be both powerful and delicate. A new series of abstract color-sound paintings emerged, in which the serial elements play out from composition to composition against ever-changing colored backgrounds.
Numerous layers of hatching only result in a painterly surface in intense color through the condensation of the graphic lines.
The individual pictures in the series have the names… of the colors as titles.
In the drawing “Carmine Red Burnt I”, light graphite lines and strong, hectic bundles of lines form dancing figures against the calm and evenly applied carmine red background.
As a trained graphic designer, Norbert Städele primarily uses painting and drawing techniques in his artistic work. With a realistic style and detailed colored pencil drawings, he carefully illustrates his observations of the world. Layers of hatching create intensified colors that bring his themes to life. Städele's art expresses human relationships and social injustices through meticulous observation. He also explores the phenomena of light and color and the traces of human intervention in nature. His work is therefore a haunting, intense communication of his profound engagement with the world.
