In this work, I sought to confront the bitterness of a countenance with the deceptive purity of an immaculate lily. I placed the figure in a starkly realistic foreground, allowing her weary gaze and wrinkled skin to tell the story of undisguised discouragement. Beside her, in a clear and almost ethereal space, the white flower blooms, like a whisper of consolation that, however, contrasts ironically with the acrimony of that face. The composition… emphasizes this duality: the dark density of the figure and the luminous lightness of the lily, united by a background of cool tones that underscore the friction between beauty and desolation. Thus, with rough yet delicate brushstrokes, I pose the question of whether the flower represents real relief or a subtle mockery of hope, as we contemplate the withered expression of someone who seems to know he is beyond all redemption.
Eusebio San Blanco explores art with oil and tempera techniques, and his teaching experience in anatomy reflects his mastery of figuration. His style is a fabric of figurative expressionism, nourished by traditional procedures and glazes that evoke deep emotions. His works are a vibrant dialogue between form and feeling, inviting introspective contemplation.
