About this artwork
In this painting I revel and mock human voracity, portraying the image of a diner who devours shrimp with an excessive eagerness worthy of a glutton without borders, as if he were devouring vanity itself. His mouth, ready to swallow, exhibits the immediacy of the craving, while his swift hands compete with the hidden voracious gaze that does not distinguish any moderation. I wanted to underline, satirically, a banquet of excesses with gluttony and…
ostentatious pleasure as protagonists, as if each shrimp were a trophy of human vanity. Making the ephemeral a perpetual feast of irony and crude lucidity, where gluttony becomes an absurd sacrament, a reminder of the insolence of an appetite that is never satisfied.
