The sculpture "human flow ERRIAPUS" was created through an elaborate process from many wooden strips of different lengths made of linden, walnut and cherry wood.
Through a precise, planned project, the strips were connected to one another in such a way that they taper off irregularly towards the bottom and thus create a flowing dynamic.
"Human flow" was derived from the aphorism of the Greek natural philosopher Heraklit of Ephesus: "Pantha rhei"… - everything flows.
Just as the water in the brook is always in motion, all things, living beings and appearances in the world are always changing.
Everything changes and evolves, nothing stays as it is.
"ERRIAPUS" comes from Greek mythology and is the name of one of the 82 previously known moons of Saturn.
The surface of this sculpture is finely sanded and oiled.
« I have always been fascinated by abstracting the human body in order to depict it in a simple and elegant form. »
Manfred Hellweger is an Austrian sculptor whose works are already represented by collectors worldwide. He is particularly known for his minimalist approach, in which he reduces forms to their essential elements. Hellweger's work embodies the idea that nothing is permanent; everything evolves and changes. Each of his sculptures reflects a deep engagement with the materials and themes he explores. Despite their simplicity, his works are deeply expressive and, by reducing them to the essentials, offer a metaphor for mindfulness and contentment.
