The work features a partially submerged female figure, captured bathing. The sculpture does not seek naturalism, but rather a plastic synthesis that transforms the body into a collection of geometric volumes. Triangularity is present throughout, with multiple directional fulcrums. The terracotta, a warm and archaic material, assumes an energetic and composed pose, alluding to a state of rebirth or inner immersion. The figure emerges from the water,… as if the material itself generated the form through a process of liberation. The lines that traverse the body are visual articulations that mark the sculpture's rhythm and accentuate its dynamics. The result is a figure suspended between emotion and structure, between material warmth and rational coldness. The artist intends to interpret the gesture of the "bather" not as a physical act, but as a metaphor for purification and rebirth. This version can also be cast in bronze.
Antonio Mastrorocco uses bronze, marble, terracotta, resin, wax, and oil on canvas, drawing on extensive training with great masters and decades of artistic teaching. He alternates figurative and abstract with masterful technique, favoring bas-relief and in-the-round, blending architecture, anatomy, and color in harmonious balance. Through dynamic forms, light, and passion, he conveys emotional depth and the message that art and culture can change how we view the world.
