I created the sculpture from Bianco P Carrara marble: the polishing highlights the marble's compactness and internal light, restoring softness to the forms. The uniform polishing transforms the body into an almost ethereal presence, where the hard material becomes flesh. The light glides seamlessly over a form dominated by an undulating movement reminiscent of dance. The lines of force move diagonally, creating a rhythm that makes the figure dynamic… despite its stillness. The torsion is deliberately exaggerated, going beyond the natural anatomy. This does not weaken the work, but rather fosters expressive tension. The absence of a head and arms focuses attention on the torso and hips, making the figure a symbol of femininity in motion. The forceful torsion evokes vital energy. The title "Passo di Danza" (Dance Step) is reflected in the shifting of the hips: the figure neither walks nor runs, but dances, suspended between balance and falling, in a force that breaks through rigidity.
Antonio Mastrorocco uses bronze, marble, terracotta, resin, wax, and oil on canvas, drawing on extensive training with great masters and decades of artistic teaching. He alternates figurative and abstract with masterful technique, favoring bas-relief and in-the-round, blending architecture, anatomy, and color in harmonious balance. Through dynamic forms, light, and passion, he conveys emotional depth and the message that art and culture can change how we view the world.
