About this artwork
In this painting, I emphasized the richness of color and texture in a simple tree trunk. The title refers to the columns of a cemetery or mausoleum. Although the main subject is positioned in the very center of the composition and could therefore appear too static, the trunk leans slightly to the left, and a subtle diagonal of light in the background rebalances and creates tension. The yellow leaves on the ground contrast with the same leaves turned…
upside down but in purple on the other side (complementary colors), making them appear animated and vibrant.
