About this artwork
For this series of monuments, of which there will be four in total, I'm going to get into the habit of photographing people without their knowledge. Especially those who appeal to me with their silhouette, their singularity. This other old, dilapidated sign in Brossard bears witness to the wear and tear of time and what was modern one day is no longer so the next. The title 'Monument' is also a mockery of the few vestiges worthy of the name in Quebec.…
I also mock people's quirks, as in the scene of this mother and her son. She seems very happy with her grocery bags while her big, oaf of a child has knocked a box of cereal onto the floor to get the toy inside in advance. The added shopping baskets also required a complex study.
