About this artwork
This painting, which is at the origin of the 'Idols' series, is the realization of a fascination I have always had for tinkerers of all kinds, amateur artists, the naive or even the deviants, who surprise me with their original creations in their raw state. It is a motley accumulation of handmade structures, clumsily and poorly imitating an amusement park. The title also expressed these lifelong memories that become, over time, blurred images, crude…
caricatures of one's own life. It scrolls from left to right in enigmatic symbols that tell my own life from childhood to adulthood. A sky, in shades of pastel pink that softens the scene, fanned out the opposite angle of this modest Disneyland.
