About this artwork
The work "human cubes 222" consists of more than 222 cubes made of lime wood.
Each individual cube was precisely sawn to size by Manfred Hellweger, the edges sanded and connected to the next cube with beechwood dowels, glue and clamps. A 1mm thick stainless steel cable is used to hang the sculpture in the steel frame.
Similar to the sculpture series "human flow" or "human nails", Hellweger created a whole from many individual parts. Each cube… stands for a thought, an emotion, or a feeling in a person's life.
The steel frame with base has been waxed and polished to prevent oxidation.
