About this artwork
In human nails XXIV, an upward-striving figure is formed from welded and polished wire nails, its matte black lacquered surface conveying a calm, understated presence. The fine, vertical lines seem to evaporate in space and simultaneously condense anew – an image for the fragility and constant change of human existence.
The base, made of fiber-reinforced concrete and imprinted with the grain of a brushed wooden formwork, lends the sculpture an archaic,… organic character. It strikes a balance between industrial rigor and natural texture, providing a powerful counterweight to the figure's light, almost ethereal appearance. A waxed steel plate completes the base, anchoring the work firmly in the space.
This creates a striking tension between material and effect: between the physical grounding of the base and the immaterial presence of the figure.

« I have always been fascinated by abstracting the human body in order to depict it in a simple and elegant form. »
Manfred Hellweger is an Austrian sculptor whose works are already represented by collectors worldwide.
He is particularly known for his minimalist approach, in which he reduces forms to their essential elements.
Hellweger's work embodies the idea that nothing is permanent; everything evolves and changes. Each of his sculptures reflects a deep engagement with the materials and themes he explores.
Despite their simplicity, his works are deeply expressive and, by reducing them to the essentials, offer a metaphor for mindfulness and contentment.
