In this impressive large-format print, the American flag is transformed into a dynamic, almost turbulent image. Stars and stripes dissolve into a swirling, swirling motion, drawing the eye to a tension-filled center.
Created against the backdrop of the failure to meet the obligations surrounding the Kyoto Protocol, the work carries a subtle political and ecological dimension. The surface appears drawn, multifaceted, and almost weathered – an expression… of erosion and, at the same time, of resilience.
Through gestural painting techniques, layers of material, and flowing traces of color, the iconic colors lose their clarity and become emotionally charged. The circular movement suggests a continuous transformation in which identity and responsibility are renegotiated.
