About this artwork
Every single cube has been hand-ground on all six sides, including the edges.
The cubes were then connected with glue and completely sealed with epoxy resin and clear varnish for additional stability. This results in a robust, shiny surface and gives the larch wood a warm, red-brown colour.
Similar to the "human flow" series, the artist tries to approach the human form with simple, geometric… shapes.
An old, disused larch beam from a barn serves as the base. This was first brushed, colored with white casein paint and then sanded.
The base of this work of art is a granite stone (19.3 x 19.3 x 3 cm)
For transport, the sculpture can be easily separated from the larch beam using a plug-in system and reassembled.
All sculptures by Manfred Hellweger are unique.

« I have always been fascinated by abstracting the human body in order to depict it in a simple and elegant form. »
He is particularly known for his minimalist approach, in which he reduces forms to their essential elements.
Hellweger's work embodies the idea that nothing is permanent; everything evolves and changes. Each of his sculptures reflects a deep engagement with the materials and themes he explores.
Despite their simplicity, his works are deeply expressive and, by reducing them to the essentials, offer a metaphor for mindfulness and contentment.
