About this artwork
"human cubes 273" consists of over 273 wooden cubes.
Each individual cube was brushed by hand on all six sides so that the lively grain of the local larch wood comes into its own.
Wooden dowels were used as the connecting element, which, however,
are obviously not visible.
Similar to the "human flow" series, the artist tries to approach the human form with simple, geometric shapes.
An old, disused larch beam from a barn serves as a base and… a granite stone (40 x 30 x 3 cm) forms the base.
The surface of the sculpture is brushed and natural.
For transport, the sculpture can be easily separated from the larch beam using a plug-in system and reassembled.
All sculptures by Manfred Hellweger are unique.
