About this artwork
The sculpture human flow – EPIMETHEUS by Manfred Hellweger shows a stylized human figure created from vertically arranged, welded square steel segments.
The matte clear coat finish preserves the raw look of the material and emphasizes its industrial origin.
The title and form allude to the mythological Epimetheus, brother of the far-sighted Prometheus – a figure who represents looking back, retrospective understanding. Accordingly, the sculpture… testifies to a human existence composed of layers of the past, of decisions, fragments, and memories. The "human flow" thus becomes a metaphor for human development: a ceaseless process in which identity is not static but constantly evolving.
The sculpture depicts man as a being in flux: shaped by what already was, and at the same time still in the process of becoming.
