In the work “human flow YMIR” Manfred Hellweger condenses human existence into a vertically flowing structure made of steel – strict, fragmented, permeable.
The figure appears both ordered and dissolved – a symbol of modern man, whose identity is in constant flux.
The title refers to Ymir, a moon of Saturn named after a mythical primordial being—a bridge between cosmic space and human existence. Thus, humanity is presented as part of a larger… context: fleeting, structured, embedded in an infinite fabric of time, matter, and movement.
Hellweger's sculpture is a poetic balance of mass and emptiness, permanence and dissolution – a philosophical commentary on the question: What remains of humanity in the flow of the universe?
The surface was sealed with matt clear varnish to prevent the steel from oxidizing.
