Looking at various aspects of the human condition through travel, conversation and historical references.
This series contains experimental drawing techniques and a reactive fluidly intuitive style. I usually draw with paint and chalk which I have included here, but these are primarily high quality markers, designers pens and architects pens.
These works define a new tributary, a body of work that has a more dreamlike quality to it. My thoughts are locked on the horizon of our future. Where are we going as a species, what are the possible outcomes, what do we lose in order to gain.
I am recreating assemblage pieces that I made back in 2006 with new threads and ideas. I have long wanted to get back to this format, basically forming sections of fence or thrown away building material into coherent story lines.
With these works I have started a group of non figurative abstractions. Using found objects like wood and stone I attach them to wood panel to form 3D images with strong kinetic values.
In this series I will look at the many weaknesses and strengths of humanity. I hope this body of work gives- in time- a succint overview of where we've been where we are and where we are heading. If you will, please follow my journey, I hope to make it interesting.
These sculptures are made strictly from materials that I had/ have at hand, that was part of the project. They are a blend of wood, metal, textiles, paper clay, leather, nails and string. All of these materials were upcycled from old furniture, old shoes, clay dug up from an ancient lake bed that surrounds my house, nails recovered from old timbers that I have upcycled, textiles that I have collected over the years, string and metal from old furniture and so on.
A series of 24 sculptures that I am currently working my way through. made entirely from materials that I had here with me. That was the intention, to see what I could come up with, with only that which was available. Each piece is approximately 67 cm high x 20 cm deep and 22cm wide. The elements are wood, paper clay paint and textiles, leather and string. The clay is pure clay dug up from an old lake bed which surrounds our house. The wood was all cut and collected here on our property. The string was collected from old furniture as was the leather from old shoes.

« Our world is tearing itself apart environmentally, socially, and economically. It is my job to highlight the faults as I see them. I disguise dark themes with color and rhythmical lines. »
